According to NFIB’s latest Small Business Optimism Index report, small business optimism remains high into the new year across the United States. But Tennessee is facing a demand for workers and workforce retention, reports Johnson City Press.
“Optimism among small business owners continues to push record highs, but they need workers to generate more sales, provide services, and complete projects,” said NFIB President and CEO Juanita D. Duggan. “Two of every three of these new jobs are historically created by the small-business half of the economy, so it will be Main Street that will continue to drive economic growth.”
The Johnson City Press reports that 90 percent of small business owners found few or no qualified job applicants for open positions at their business, while 23 percent of business owners cited difficulty in finding and hiring qualified workers as their single most important business problem.
