Statement on Governor Scott’s State of the State Address

Date: January 09, 2018

January 9, 2018, Tallahassee – Below is a statement from Bill Herrle, National Federation of Independent Business/Florida Executive Director on Governor Rick Scott’s State of the State Address:

“Governor Rick Scott’s final State of the State Address highlighted his dedication to Florida’s small business owners. Gov. Scott’s work since 2010 has changed the path of our economy, and Florida’s small business owners have responded by expanding and creating jobs.

“Gov. Scott’s initiative to require a 2/3 majority vote in the legislature to raise taxes and fees is strongly supported by small business owners. According to NFIB/Florida’s 2018 Member Ballot, 84 percent of NFIB members back the proposal. It is proposals like these that exemplify Gov. Scott’s focus on economic growth and his commitment to preserving our state’s business climate.

“As the 2018 Legislative Session kicks off, NFIB looks forward to working with Gov. Scott, as well as the Florida Senate and House, to make Florida an even better place to own, operate and grow a small business.”
