BOISE, Idaho, Jan. 9, 2020—The good news from Washington, D.C., this morning is that Main Street enterprises are not letting up on hiring, adding new positions, and raising the pay of their workers, according to the latest monthly Jobs Report from NFIB, the nation’s leading small-business association.

“What too often goes unmentioned is the effect states are having in the continued historic highs in hiring and employee compensation occurring in America’s small businesses,” said Suzanne Budge, Idaho state director for NFIB. “It was great to hear Gov. Brad Little say, in his state-of-the-state address to the Legislature, that there would be no letting up on his already significant accomplishments on providing regulatory relief, so small businesses can continue to thrive and grow under the sunlight of predictability. Removing the worry if a tax, rule, or regulation is going to change from one year to the next is a serious stimulant for all economies.

“Additionally, his call for a conservative state budget that limits spending growth, leaves a surplus and increases the state’s rainy-day fund also sends a strong message to small businesses, especially out-of-state ones looking to come here, that Idaho is serious about making our current prosperity sustainable into the future.”
