Is a Minimum Wage Raise Coming to Ohio?

Date: April 03, 2019

State senators introduced legislation to raise the state’s minimum wage to $15.

Sen. Cecil Thomas and Sen. Hearcel Craig introduced a bill that would incrementally raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 per hour, reports the Cincinnati Business Courier.

The bill comes just a few months after the state’s minimum wage of $8.30 increased to $8.55

If passed, the bill would increase the state’s current hourly wage from $8.55 to $12 per hour in January 2020. The hourly wage would then increase by $1 until reaching $15 per hour in 2023.

NFIB is opposed to a $15 minimum wage. A recent study by NFIB highlights the effects of a $15 minimum and its effect on small business owners.
