Executive order establishes new 18-member committee to "review existing state regulations, policies, and procedures to streamline government, remove inefficiencies, and cut red tape...."
A new state commission is set to cement Georgia’s status as the “best state in the nation for small businesses,” according to a new executive order signed in January by Gov. Brian Kemp.
The Georgians First Commission, among other tasks, will “review existing state regulations, policies, and procedures to streamline government, remove inefficiencies, and cut red tape,” according to the executive order.
“[Something] I had promised to do on the campaign was [create] a Putting Georgians First Commission where we’re going to get a diverse group of business people to go after cutting government regulation, streamlining processes, looking at innovation, looking at other things that we can do to really make Georgia the No. 1 state in the country for small business to continue to spur innovation, entrepreneurship and everything in between,” Kemp told the Marietta Daily Journal.
The executive order was among Kemp’s first actions in office. He was sworn in on Jan. 14 as Georgia’s 83rd governor.
