With Veteran’s Day this month, Gov. Greg Abbott is calling on business owners to fill their job openings with qualified veterans, according to El Paso Times. Texas leads—alongside California and Florida—in having one of the largest populations of military veterans. Out of the country’s 21 million veterans, roughly half a million veterans are unemployed and currently seeking a job. Texas accounts for around one-quarter of the total veterans in the United States, and approximately 30,000 veterans are seeking employment in the state.

You could be eligible for a $9,600 federal tax break by employing a veteran, and there is state-financed workforce training funding available too.
