Governor Unveils 2017 Budget Proposal

Governor Rick Snyder unveiled his Fiscal Year 2016-2017 budget
proposal to a joint meeting of the House and Senate Appropriations committees.

Highlights included an additional $195 million to deal with
the Flint water situation and a plan for stabilizing the Detroit Public Schools
financial condition.

Overall Budget Proposal:

Total State Budget (Federal and State Funds): $54.9 billion
(up 0.8% or $438 million)

Total State General Fund budget: $10.2 billion (up 1.5% or
$145 million)

Total State School Aid Fund: $12.5 billion
