LINCOLN, Neb., Jan. 12, 2018—From Bob Hallstrom, Nebraska state director for the National Federation of Independent Business, on Gov. Pete Ricketts’ State-of-the-State speech delivered January 10.

“Nebraska’s small-business owners were delighted to hear Governor Ricketts’ call for both property and income tax relief in his State-of-the-State speech. The governor was right to point out that surrounding states are beating Nebraska to the punch on reducing taxes to attract businesses to their states. Based on prior polls of NFIB-member, small-business owners, they support both property tax and income tax relief.

“The governor’s call for balancing the state budget without raising taxes is to be applauded. Together with his administration’s success in cutting red tape, streamlining government operations, and speeding up delivery of occupational licenses, Nebraska is looking a lot more attractive to businesses wanting to set up shop here.”
