For New York small business owners these days, there’s not been much good news. From government-mandated wage hikes to ever-tightening regulations, the state’s government continues its assault on Main Street.
But a new state-backed website is a small victory for NFIB/New York members. Known as the New York Business Express, the site offers a range of streamlined services to new—and existing—small business owners. New or would-be business owners can find a “How To” guide on starting a business, for example.
Existing business owners can research business license requirements and find an easy-to-use database to navigate available loans, grants and incentives.
“NYBE will provide a single point of contact for businesses to help navigate regulatory requirements as well as support services and other technical assistance resources,” according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Opportunity Agenda. In addition, Business Express “will offer a game-changing approach to small business growth and an innovative way of cutting red tape, further demonstrating that New York is open for business.”
