Leave Colorado’s unique, 76-year-old compromise alone
For more than three-quarters of a century, Colorado’s Labor Peace Act has worked as promised: It’s found the middle ground between management and labor. In a letter delivered December 6 to Gov. Jared Polis signed by the leaders of 15 business groups, including NFIB Colorado, they are asking the Labor Peace Act to be left alone.
“Our business community has held on to this carefully crafted compromise and opposed efforts to modify it,” said the letter, which can be read below. “While we appreciate the outreach from organized labor seeking to amend the Labor Peace Act, we want to be clear about our opposition to any changes in current law. The Labor Peace Act has been a challenging compromise to hold on to, and we support the fragile balance it provides … Let’s not fix what’s not broken.”
