Former decorated Secret Service agent’s experience in fighting crime cited as an asset
SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 12, 2020—The political action committee for California’s leading small-business association today announced its endorsement of Melanie Burkholder for the 76th State Assembly District seat.
“Melanie Burkholder has built an extensive track record protecting the most vital leaders of our American economy, and that includes our fragile but hardworking small business owners,” said John Kabateck, California state director for NFIB. “Her experience as a small business owner herself, and someone who has dedicated her life to fighting crimes that affect small-business owners more intensely, will be an asset to have for our state’s lawmaking body.”
The endorsement of Burkholder was made by the NFIB CA PAC and based on responses to a questionnaire on small-business issues and on the voting record of the incumbent. Her opponent, Tasha Boerner Horvath, did not fill out the questionnaire and had a 2019-2020 voting record of 18% on small business issues.
The 76th Assembly District includes the San Diego County communities of Camp Pendleton North, Camp Pendleton South, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Oceanside, and Vista.
