Small Business Endorses Dahle in Assembly District 1

Date: October 31, 2019

Entrepreneurial background, policy positions impressed NFIB California political action committee

The political action committee for the state’s leading small-business association has endorsed Megan Dahle for the open Assembly District 1 seat in the November 5 special election.

“Her opposition to the split-roll property tax and answers to other questions resonated with the NFIB California PAC, which made the endorsement,” said John Kabateck, NFIB’s California state director, who spoke on behalf of the PAC. “That she is also a small-business owner and took the time to complete our questionnaire, which her opponent did not, were also key selling points with our PAC.”

Dahle is running against Elizabeth Betancourt for the seat once held by her husband, Brian Dahle, who was elected to the State Senate. The Dahles own Big Valley Seed Company and Big Valley Plant Nursery in Bieber. The First Assembly District takes in a part of Northern California from the Oregon border to Lake Tahoe.

Megan Dahle listed lessening the regulatory burdens on small businesses as one of her top two priorities. “We need more legislators in Sacramento that actually make a payroll, own a business and understand the impacts of the damaging legislation being passed,” wrote Dahle on her questionnaire. “I support Prop. 13 … whereas my opponent is a proponent of the split roll tax and other harmful legislation and measures to small business owners.”
