SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 1, 2017 – Today, the National Federation of Independent Business/California unveiled their 2017 Day at the Capitol luncheon speaker lineup. Each year, NFIB/CA invites their small business members from across the state to hear from policymakers at the luncheon and participate in legislative meetings at the State Capitol to advocate for small business priorities.

“We are very excited about the speaker lineup we have confirmed for our 9th annual Day at the Capitol, which serves to inform and engage our members with policymakers at the state level,” commented NFIB/CA State Executive Director Tom Scott. “California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones is highly qualified to speak to some of the most critical issues affecting our small business members such as health care reform and workers’ compensation.

“We also look forward to hearing from two key legislators about their plans in the new legislative session. Assemblyman Vince Fong (R-Bakersfield) is a freshman who has already made bold moves in the areas of transportation funding and litigation reform. Assemblyman Adam Gray (D-Merced) is a returning legislator who showed independence when he broke ranks with the majority party last year in opposition to the devastating $15 minimum wage hike.

“Additionally, Governor Jerry Brown’s Small Business Advocate Jesse Torres will join us to provide an update on the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and answer questions from NFIB/CA members about resources available from his office,” Scott added.

The luncheon is free of charge and open to members of the press.
