Poll: Voters Think Big of Small Business-Backed Candidates

Date: September 19, 2018

NFIB PAC makes six post-primary endorsements for the Arizona Legislature

PHOENIX (Sept. 19, 2018)—The political action committee for Arizona’s leading small-business association announced its endorsement of six more candidates for the State Legislature, today, right on the heels of a recently conducted poll showing the importance of such an endorsement.

In a survey conducted by OH Predictive Insights, when respondents were asked the question, “How important would it be if one of their [state legislative candidates] primary issues was a business-friendly approach and pro-small business,” 89 percent of respondents ranked it either very (53 percent), moderately (24 percent), or slightly (12 percent) important.

“What stood out for me, and what candidates should take note of, is that regardless of party affiliation, voters are generally in agreement on the importance of pro-business candidates,” says Chad Heinrich, NFIB’s Arizona state director. “Given the hardline divisions in today’s politics, it’s heartening to see voters from across the political divides strongly backing candidates who support small business.”

This Arizona-specific poll closely mirrors a national poll conducted earlier this year by Morning Consult, which showed “Nearly nine in ten adults (89 percent) report a positive view of small business, including 46 percent who say they have a ‘very positive” view.’ These positive sentiments extend across party lines: Republicans (92 percent) and Democrats (90 percent positive) are united in their appreciation for small businesses.”

Six more candidates for the Arizona House of Representatives can now capitalize on their endorsements for election made by NFIB Arizona PAC. They are:

  • District 5 Leo Biasiucci
  • District 11 Bret Roberts
  • District 17 Nora Ellen
  • District 18 Greg Patterson
  • District 20 Shawnna Bolick
  • District 28 Kathy Pappas Petsas

The first round of post-primary endorsements now brings to 49 the total number of incumbents, challengers, and open-seat candidates NFIB Arizona PAC has endorsed this year for the Arizona Senate and the Arizona House of Representatives.
