Camille Garcia brings wealth of experience in getting members involved
NFIB Arizona is pleased to announce its new grassroots manager for Arizona.
Camille Garcia comes to NFIB from State Farm Insurance. For 13 years she led the grassroots, communications, media, and philanthropic efforts in California, the Pacific Northwest, and central states’ territory.
At State Farm, Garcia built the public relations framework for the new State Farm regional office housing almost 10,000 employees. She was instrumental in the growth of the company’s grassroots advocacy program in California and Texas. She led several national campaigns that positively impacted the company brand including a national Public Relations Catastrophe Response program.
In her new job, Garcia will work to increase NFIB-member activism in the legislative process and to recruit new small-business owners to the cause. Her job will include rallying the troops to stop bad-for-small-business bills from passing the Arizona Legislature, as well as helping to push good-for-Main-Street measures to passage.
Garcia holds a bachelor of arts degree in communications from California State University San Bernardino and is working on a masters degree in management from Western Governors University.
In between, she attended the Brookings Institute’s Public Policy Program. She has received awards from the Public Relations Society of America for the State Farm’s Day-on-the-Hill program and was named PR Professional by the Regional Hispanic Chamber. She has also been recognized by both legislators and civic leaders for her commitment to the community.
She and her husband, along with their five dogs, make their home in the Austin area. Camille looks forward to connecting with NFIB’s Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas members.
You can reach her at [email protected] or by phone at 512-476-9847.
“We’ve had many good small-business advocates serve our association, but we’ve never opened a legislative session with a stronger team than we have right now in State Director Chad Heinrich and Grassroots Manager Camille Garcia,” said Gary Selvy, NFIB’s executive director of state governmental relations. “Key federal policies have made these the best of times for small businesses. The job we face nationally is to keep states from enacting policies that chip away at small-business gains. Chad and Camille will have their work cut out for them, but I can think of no better-experienced team to meet the challenge.”
