WATCH: Governor Ivey Thanks NFIB for Helping Complete the 2020 Census

Date: May 18, 2021

Gov. Kay Ivey has recorded a message thanking NFIB members for helping complete the 2020 census.

“As you know, this was no easy task, and it was truly a team effort,” the governor says. The 2020 count was disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Only 60% of Alabama households had completed the census by August.

The census is used to determine how many seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives, and it’s used to draw congressional and state legislative districts. The census also provides critical data used to allocate billions of dollars in federal funding for roads, schools, health care, and other resources. “We could not have been successful without the tremendous assistance of the Alabama chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business.”
