Could AlabamaWorks Help Your Employment Search?

Date: December 13, 2016

New program connects students, job seekers, and employers to put Alabamians to work.

Small business owners in Alabama have consistently ranked the difficulty of finding qualified workers for job openings one of their three most important business problems, according to monthly economic trends reports. A new public-private partnership may help correct this problem, however.

AlabamaWorks is a web portal aimed at connecting students and job seekers with employers. The easy-to-use, one-stop website was unveiled in November 2016 after three years of work from the Alabama Workforce Council and various Alabama state agencies. Its goal is to provide an organized and simplified structure that connects K-12 education, community colleges, workforce development partners, and business and industry, reported AL.com.

As time goes on, the program can be tailored to the needs of businesses, which will help both employers and workers in job retention. AlabamaWorks creators also hope the website can facilitate workforce training as soon as possible by connecting K-12 kids interests to career possibilities.
