Federal Hearing in Pa. on listing the Northern Long Eared Bat as endangered

Date: November 01, 2014

On September 8 in Harrisburg the U.S. House Natural Resources Committee held a hearing in the Pennsylvania Capitol to discuss the impact of listing of the Northern Long Eared Bat on the endangered species list.  Many businesses could be hurt including timber operations, companies that make logging equipment, farm operations and more in 38 states. Yet, there is no proof that disruption of the bats habitat has anything to do with it’s demise, rather it appears to be a disease.
Here is a video in which Rep. Glenn Thompson and Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania discuss the hearing and the need for the Fish and Wildlife Service to be more transparent about their decisions and offer scientific research before listing a species as endangered, especially when there is a great affect on business.
