NFIB New York: How to Navigate the Workers' Compensation Board

Date: February 13, 2017

Dear NFIB/New York Member:

We often receive numerous complaints and requests for information from our members, particularly due to experiences with state agencies.

While we also remain eager to provide guidance and insight, it is important that you as employers know what resources are out there.

Recently, NFIB\NY met with representatives from the State Department of Labor. During that meeting we expressed our growing concern that their agency is overly aggressive with small business. We agreed to continue working with them to improve their correspondence with our members. In the meantime, please note that you as employers have rights!

Questions or concerns about unemployment insurance? DOL has published guidance and handbooks for employers. They can be found here.

Do you have an issue with the Workers’ Compensation Board? The Board has an Advocate for Business, whom you can contact here: http://www.wcb.ny.gov/content/main/Employers/busadv.jsp Don’t allow your business to be kept in the dark, NFIB\NY has the resources to help!
