Newton: It's silly season again.
It’s that time of year when you see officeholders and candidates running for public office making promise after promise to make your lives better, the community stronger, and our citizens safer. It’s also the perfect time to ask your local candidates for state representative and state senator what their plans are for making Texas more business friendly, lower property and franchise taxes, and reduce regulations that hamper your ability to grow your business. The Texas small business community must ask these questions, so that you can hold your elected officials accountable when they stray from their promises.
During the last legislative session there were 86 state representatives and senators that voted 100 percent with the NFIB/Texas small business agenda and these lawmakers have earned a heartfelt “thank you” from small business owners. Many of these “100 percenters” and other candidates are facing strong challenges in the upcoming Election Day in November and NFIB/Texas must be there to help by contributing to their campaigns through the NFIB/Texas SAFE Trust, block walking, voter education direct mail, and other avenues of support.
We have a slate of candidates that have earned the NFIB endorsement and those candidates will be named shortly. In the meanwhile, consider a contribution to your political action committee (PAC) – the NFIB/Texas SAFE Trust. By banding together and making a contribution you are helping our endorsed candidates and helping NFIB to make Texas stronger for small business.
Thank you.
Will Newton
NFIB/Texas Executive Director
