An Update from Your NFIB/Wisconsin State Director

Smith: 1800 bills introduced. 169 laws. Which ones will impact your small business?

An Update from Your NFIB/Wisconsin State Director

Although the Legislature has one more floor period scheduled
for this session for late May, it is not likely lawmakers will be on the floor
debating legislation.  It is more likely you will find your elected
officials back in the district looking for your support and a thank you for
serving during the past two years as your representative in Madison.
There is sacrifice associated with being an elected official and each one
deserves our gratitude for serving and working to make Wisconsin a better place
to live and work.

However, that does not mean all legislators have equally earned your support.
NFIB believes elected officials should be supported based on performance not
rhetoric.  That’s why before Election Day, NFIB members will receive a
report card that will rate members of the legislature based on their small
business voting record.

I encourage small business owners to support candidates according to their record
on behalf of small business.  This is important business.  So far
this session, there have been 1800 bills introduced.  There are 169 new
laws.  Many will impact small business.

That’s why membership in NFIB is so critically important.  The thousands
of small business owners represented by NFIB provides small business clout in
the Capitol, and while small business owners are busy creating jobs, growing
businesses, or just fighting to stay in business, NFIB is working on behalf of
small business in Madison and Washington D. C.

Thank you for your continuing support and active participation in the state’s
leading small business organization.

Bill G. Smith
State Director
