An Update from Your NFIB/Maryland State Director

Date: May 20, 2015

Dear Members:

Together, with the help of pro-business legislators and Governor Hogan’s leadership, NFIB is pleased to announce the close of a successful legislative session.
It goes without saying that you are the backbone of NFIB and we would not have been as successful in Maryland if it were not for your membership and activism.

Your activism made a difference. Your feedback through ballots and surveys, contact with legislators, media interviews, and testimony played a crucial role in defeating anti-business legislation. Your activism not only helped you “Be the Voice of Small Business,” but also empowered us as we lobby legislators.

I encourage you to help us grow and strengthen our Maryland representation. If you could recruit at least one business owner to join NFIB this year, can you imagine the influence we would have next session? If you aren’t able to recruit a new member, then invite your contacts to our next event. We had an impressive Small Business Day in Annapolis this year, and I encourage you to bring fellow small business owners to the event next year. Mark your calendars for February 2016!

Speaking of next year, members of the General Assembly have already promised to reintroduce mandatory paid leave, a state-run retirement program for the private sector, food allergy mandates, and a “fair pay” bill in 2016. In anticipation of these battles, NFIB needs your help and the help of other business owners. Together, we can make a difference and make Maryland a better place to own, operate, and grow your business.

Thank you for being a valued NFIB member.

Sincerely,

Jessica Cooper
NFIB/MD state director
