What the Sales Tax Simplification Task Force Means for Your Colorado Business

Date: July 18, 2017

The Sales Tax Simplification Task Force is well underway in their work in preparation for the November report to the state legislature.

The report is to outline possible streamlining processes to make the collection and remittance of state sales tax more efficient. These recommendations will ease the burden on small business owners who must collect and remit sales tax to the state and, often times, several of the over four hundred taxing jurisdictions in Colorado.

NFIB/Colorado spent part of the summer working with and submitting comments to the Department of Regulatory Agencies concerning possible changes to the operations and policies of the Colorado Civil Rights Division. In 2013 NFIB fought hard against the passage of HB 13-1136 which increased fines and damage awards for plaintiffs suing their employers. NFIB/Colorado continue to mount efforts to rolling back some of the overzealous enforcement practices of 1136 and the Commission.
