STATEMENT: Veto Gives General Assembly Chance to Scrap Devastating Service Tax

Date: April 09, 2018

NFIB State Director Tom Underwood released the following statement today in response to Gov. Matt Bevin’s veto of the budget bill:

“On behalf of our members, I want to thank Governor Bevin for vetoing the budget bill, which included a devastating sales tax on services. That service tax would make it more expensive for small businesses to operate in Kentucky. We’re encouraging the General Assembly to allow the governor’s veto to stand and to use this opportunity to find solutions that would strengthen Kentucky’s economy for our entrepreneurs.  As the largest creator of jobs in the Commonwealth, small business looks forward to joining in conversations on how to move forward.”
