Small Business Endorses Henry McMaster for Governor

Date: October 01, 2018

NFIB South Carolina PAC has endorsed Henry McMaster for governor. The political action committee’s endorsement was announced at a news conference at Café Strudel, an NFIB member business in West Columbia. The PAC is comprised solely of NFIB members.

The endorsement is based on the candidate’s record and position on small-business issues, NFIB State Director Ben Homeyer said.

“Henry McMaster is the clear choice for South Carolina’s small businesses,” Homeyer said.

“As attorney general and then as lieutenant governor, he has helped ensure that the voice of small business is heard in Columbia,” Homeyer said. “Since becoming governor, he has worked hard to improve economic development throughout the state.

“He has worked to attract new industries and corporations to the state, which will create new opportunities for small businesses,” Homeyer said. “Governor McMaster has also opposed burdensome rules and regulations that would make it harder for small businesses to grow and create jobs.

“On behalf of our dues-paying members throughout the state, it’s my honor to announce the NFIB South Carolina PAC’s endorsement of Henry McMaster for governor,” Homeyer said.

“It is an honor to receive this endorsement,” said Governor McMaster. “With nearly 23,000 new jobs and $8 billion in capital investment, record low unemployment, and more people working in our state now than ever before, it is important that we keep our foot on the gas to build on this momentum. Working hand in hand with the business community, we will ensure South Carolina remains a premier destination for businesses of all sizes to grow.”

Today’s endorsement puts the considerable grassroots support of the state’s small businesses behind the governor’s campaign. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to vote. NFIB will encourage its South Carolina members to help turn out the powerful small-business voting bloc on Election Day.
