Gov. Brian Kemp has created an 18-member small business commission aimed at creating a more business-friendly environment within the state of Georgia, according to channel 11Alive.
Kemp’s small business commission will be tasked with identifying regulations that make running a small business difficult or create unnecessary burdens for small business owners. Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Government Reporter Dave Williams spoke with Kemp who gave an example of one such regulation.
Kemp described a form that existed when he was Secretary of State that required small business owners to fill it out and have it notarized. Many small business owners do not have a notary on staff and would have to go to someone to provide that service.
Kemp, having a background in small business, has continuously been an advocate for small business owners in Georgia. The Governor has owned a number of businesses in the Athens area, where he is from. The governor also made it a point to appoint majoritively small business owners to his new task force.
The group will have until the end of the next fiscal year, June 2020, to present recommendations on how to overall business environment of Georgia.
