Illinois May Advance to Phase 4 on June 26

Date: June 17, 2020

The number of new COVID-19 cases has been declining steadily for several weeks, meaning that Illinois is on track to move into the next phase for reopening of the economy on Friday, June 26.

Right now, all regions in the state are at Phase 3. If the positive trend continues and Illinois moves to Phase 4. Once that happens:

  • All manufacturing open with Illinois Department of Public Health-approved safety guidance
  • All employees of so-called “non-essential” businesses may return to work with IDPH-approved safety guidance; employers are encouraged to provide accommodations for COVID-19-vulnerable employees
  • Bars and restaurants may open with capacity limits and IDPH-approved safety guidance
  • Personal-care services and health clubs, such as barbershops, salons, spas and health, and fitness clubs, may open with capacity limits and IDPH-approved safety guidance
  • Cinemas and theaters may open with capacity limits and IDPH-approved safety guidance
  • Retailers may open with capacity limits and IDPH-approved safety guidance
