Small Business Wins Big on Election Day

Seventy-nine of 84 candidates endorsed by the National Federation of Independent Business/Florida won on Election Day, including Governor Rick Scott.

“Tuesday was a big day for small businesses in Florida,” said Bill Herrle, Executive Director of NFIB/Florida, the state’s leading small-business association. “Governor Scott has made tremendous strides to improve Florida’s economy and the business climate during his first four years in office. He not only supports the issues that matter to our members, but his leadership on small business priorities has been undeniable.

“Our members were huge stakeholders in this race,” Herrle continued. “The fate and success of their small businesses often lies in how they’re treated by our state government. We look to four more years of working with the most pro-small business governor in the nation. Let’s get back to work!”

Sixteen Congressional candidates and 59 state legislative candidates endorsed by the NFIB SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust won.

Endorsed candidates who won included:

•    Rick Scott, Governor
•    Pam Bondi, Attorney General
•    Jeff Atwater, Chief Financial Officer
•    Adam Putnam, Commissioner of Agriculture
•    Carlos Curbelo, Congressional District 26
•    Scott Plakon, Florida House District 29
•    Bob Cortes, Florida House District 30

“Our members are looking forward to working with all of these elected officials on legislation that helps small businesses grow and create jobs,” said NFIB/Florida Executive Director Bill Herrle.
