NFIB Reacts to Passage of Minimum Wage Amendment

Date: November 05, 2013

Trenton (November 5, 2013) — The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) said its members are deeply disappointed in the passage of Ballot Question #2 but that Governor Chris Christie’s overwhelming victory takes out some of the sting.

“Raising the minimum wage every year automatically is going to result in losses for small businesses and their employees,” said NFIB State Director Laurie Ehlbeck.  “This is a very disappointing result.

“Our members are very pleased, however, that Governor Christie won with a mandate to continue the policies that have made New Jersey more competitive,” she continued.  “Small business is the backbone of New Jersey’s economy and we’ll have a Governor for four more years who understands that.  That’s very encouraging.”
