Former Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love received the endorsement of NFIB in her congressional bid to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Jim Matheson this November.
“Her views that that there are better ways to insure Americans than the Affordable Care Act and that the federal tax code needs to be overhauled toward lower rates is right in line with our members’ beliefs and sets her far apart from her opponent, who did not return our questionnaire and received limited support in a survey of our members,” said Lisa Goeas, NFIB vice president for Political and Grassroots. “Her experience as an elected official who got things done is an added credential in stark contrast to her opponent’s profession as an environmental attorney.”
The endorsement for Love (4th District) was made by NFIB’s SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee, and was based responses to a questionnaire and interviews.
“I know Mia Love personally,” said NFIB/Utah State Director Candace Daly, “and can attest to the solidity of her beliefs. She has shown great support for small business in Utah, and as a former mayor who managed her town’s exponential growth in population while limiting the size and scope of city government, she’s delivered the type of results we sorely need in Congress.”

America’s largest small-business association, the National Federation of Independent Business has more than 4,000 dues-paying members in Utah. “Small businesses significantly impact Utah’s economy,” reports the Office of Advocacy at the U.S. Small Business Administration. “They represent 96.8 percent of all employers and employ 48.2 percent of the private-sector labor force. Small businesses are crucial to the fiscal condition of the state and numbered 247,771 in 2010. Most of Utah’s small businesses have fewer than 20 employees.”
