NFIB Endorses Governor Sandoval for Re-Election

Date: August 19, 2014

CARSON CITY, Nev. Aug. 19, 2014—The representative association for America’s small businesses today endorsed Gov. Brian Sandoval for re-election.
“It’s small business, not big business, that generates almost every new job in Nevada and in the nation,” said Randi Thompson, Nevada state director for the National Federation of Independent Business, America’s voice of small business. “Governor Sandoval has been good for small business, and, as a result, there are 40,000 more jobs in the state since he has taken office.”
Thompson listed a few of Sandoval’s many accomplishments that have made the state a good place for Main Street enterprises.
  • His executive order right after taking office putting a hold on the creation or implementation of any new regulations
  • His requirement of every state agency to review all existing regulations to determine if they were still necessary or caused an undue burden on small business.
  • His action put all the state agencies on notice that he was going to be very selective in supporting new regulations that make it harder for businesses to open or operate.
  • His support for increasing the payroll tax exemption for businesses in 2013, raising the exemption from $250,000 to $340,000.  This helped businesses small and large by providing an exemption for their most important asset – their employees.
  • His aggressive pursuit of economic development.
  • His solid opposition to Question 3 on this November’s ballot, which would create a new margins tax.
The nation’s largest and leading small-business association, NFIB has 330,000 dues-paying members across America, including 2,000 in Nevada. In a fax poll of its Nevada membership, 96 percent of respondents voted to endorse Sandoval. The official endorsement for Sandoval was made by NFIB’s SAFE (Save America’s Free Enterprise) Trust, the association’s political action committee.
