VICTORY - MD House and Senate vote against an outright ban on minors using tanning facilities

Date: March 09, 2015

Legislation that would have banned all minors under 18 from using tanning devices died in both the Senate Finance Committee and the House Health and Government Relations Committee. NFIB opposed this legislation and we thank everyone who took action against these bills.

HB 56 / SB 152  would have:

  • banned
all minors from tanning devices, removing the current parental consent form all
    together
  • required
that owners, employees or operators of a tanning facility to verify the age of
customers before allowing them to use a tanning device
  • imposed violation
fines that begin at $250 for the first offense, $500 for the second and $1,000 for
    third and subsequent offenses
