A Letter From NFIB/Oregon's State Director

Date: January 12, 2015

Make your voice heard.

Dear members,

Feb. 2, 2015, will hear the gavel drop for Oregon’s 78th Legislative session. This will be a robust session with many bills presented that have a direct impact on your business, your employees and associated families. Issues on deck include a mandated paid sick leave, a minimum wage increase, a state-run retirement plan for the private sector, low-carbon fuel standards and tax increases to feed the ever-growing appetite of government.

At NFIB/Oregon, we are prepared for battle, armed with the loud voice of our membership, some 7,000 in number. We will be joining forces with other associations to form powerful coalitions to fight for your right, our valuable member, to own, operate and grow your business.

I want to remind you that your voice is the single most powerful voice in the legislative process. You are the constituent and in our representative form of government, it is YOU whom the elected officials represent. You have a powerful voice, but it must be used and heard. I encourage you to pay attention to NFIB’s legislative updates, and when a current issue affects you—either positively or negatively—communicate. If you’re unsure how to begin the process of contacting your lawmaker, do not hesitate to contact your member support manager, Stacy Jenkins, at [email protected]. or me at  [email protected]. We are here for you!

State director, NFIB/Oregon
