New EEO Poster Required on Nov. 21
A new federal posting requirement becomes effective Nov. 21. Federal law requires that employers post “Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law” poster in the workplace. A new version reflects current federal employment discrimination law (including the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008) and information about the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008, which also is effective Nov. 21. The revised poster also includes updates from the Department of Labor.
To comply with the law, print and post the EEOC’s November 2009 version of the “EEO is the Law” poster http://www1.eeoc.gov/employers/poster.cfm. The new poster will also be available in Spanish, Chinese and Arabic before the GINA statute becomes effective.
