Free NFIB Webinar: Union Laws that Apply to Your Non-Union Small Business

Wednesday, July 8 at 2 p.m. Eastern.

Download the slides from the webinar.

Unions are acting more aggressively than ever to increase their membership and organize labor in the smallest of firms. Yet, even without any signs of formal union activity, many small firms may be unwittingly committing unfair labor practices in their day-to-day activities. Even worse, many small business owners don’t realize that they have federally protected rights when a union tries to organize their business.

To help you comply, the NFIB Small Business Legal Center, the legal resource for small business owners nationwide, presented the educational webinar: Union Laws that Apply to Your Non-Union Small Business.

This webinar helped guide attendeesthrough your rights and responsibilities before a union comes to your business or knocks on your door. It also outlined how the process may change if the Employee Free Choice Act becomes law.

The webinar covered:
• What you CAN do and say — What, when, and under what circumstances you can restrict union access to your employees and voice your opinion on unionization.
• What you CANNOT do or say — Learn the limits of your free speech as an employer and what you must do under federal law to give unions access to your employees.
• What are protected employee activities under the National Labor Relations Act? What are unfair labor practices?
• Potential changes under the Employee Free Choice Act.
• Answers to other unionization questions.
