Labor: U.S. Labor Law

The NFIB Small Business Legal Center is hard at work to ensure that small businesses are not saddled with burdensome new requirements and U.S. labor laws that do little, if anything, to protect our nation's workers.

The foundation was recently part of a full-court press that successfully challenged the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's ergonomics rule. Responding to the NFIB Small Business Legal Center lawsuit against OSHA and an intense lobbying campaign by NFIB, Congress repealed this U.S. labor law that would have cost small business owners more than $40 billion.

Despite this important victory, the NFIB Small Business Legal Center will continue to keep a close eye on OSHA.

"If OSHA oversteps its bounds and tries to impose overly burdensome, one-size-fits all requirements on small business again, we will take them right back to court," said Karen Harned, executive director of the NFIB Small Business Legal Center.
