Now is the time to call your state senator and tell them how you feel about establishing a minimum nurse-to-patient ratio in Massachusetts hospitals. House Bill 4783 would take the responsibility for management of hospital staffing away from hospital administrators and instead require that nurse-to-patient ratios be set by state regulation. Beacon Hill Report -- June 30
A dangerous legislative session for small business owners concerned with health insurance costs continued last week with House passage of a bill to double the minimum insurance coverage for foods required by those suffering from gastrointestinal diseases from $2500 to $5000 annually (House Bill No. 925). In addition, the House gave initial approval to legislation to expand the state's most generous mental health parity law by requiring unlimited coverage for non-biologically based conditions be included in basic health insurance policies sold in Massachusetts (House Bill No. 4423).
