The Benefits of Working for the Voice of American Small Business
- Medical insurance
Full-time employees may elect coverage to become effective one month following date of hire for themselves and their eligible dependents. In most geographic areas, employees may select from three medical plans depending on the level of coverage and premium that best meets their needs. Covered employees contribute toward the cost of providing medical benefits.
- Dental insurance
Full-time employees in any area of the United States may elect Delta Dental Plan coverage for themselves and eligible dependents to become effective one month following date of hire. Covered employees contribute toward the cost of providing dental benefits.
- Vision insurance
Full-time employees may elect coverage for themselves and eligible dependents in the NFIB Vision Plan administered by EyeMed to become effective one month following date of hire. Covered employees pay the full cost of this voluntary plan.
- Short-term and long-term disability income insurance
NFIB provides a basic short and long-term disability income core benefit to eligible full-time employees at no cost to the employee. Employees may elect voluntary additional buy-up coverage which is paid for by the employee. The waiting period for this benefit will depend on your position.
- Employee assistance program
The EAP provides limited prepaid, confidential and voluntary counseling services, assistance arranging for dependent care and limited legal services. These free services are available to all full-time employees, spouses and dependent children on the first day of employment.
- Flexible spending accounts
Full-time employees are eligible to participate in NFIB’s Health Care and Dependent Care Flexible Spending accounts to become effective one month following date of hire. These accounts allow employees to set aside pre-tax money to pay for allowable out-of-pocket healthcare or dependent care expenses saving taxes by reducing taxable income.
- Retirement savings plan
NFIB will match on a dollar-for-dollar basis the first 1 percent of eligible compensation an employee contributes on a pre-tax deferral basis, and will match 50 cents on each dollar the employee contributes on a pre-tax basis between 1 percent and 6 percent of eligible compensation. Employees are 25 percent vested to the matching contributions after one year of service and 100 percent vested after two years of service. NFIB participates in an automatic enrollment feature for all newly hired eligible employees following one month of service. Automatic enrollment is a program designed to encourage saving for retirement while working at NFIB.
- Basic term life insurance
NFIB provides basic group life insurance for all full-time employees to become effective one month following date of hire. The benefit is equal to one times the employee’s annual earnings up to a maximum benefit of $50,000. Coverage is provided at no cost to the employee.
- Supplemental term life insurance
Voluntary supplemental term life insurance is available to full-time employees to become effective on month following date of hire. Insurance coverage for an employee’s spouse and children is also available. The employee pays the full cost of this voluntary benefit.
- Group accidental death and dismemberment plan
NFIB provides group accidental death and dismemberment insurance for 24-hour protection for accidents anywhere in the world, on or off the job, on business, vacation or at home. The amount of coverage provided is dependent on the employee’s position with NFIB. This coverage is provided at no cost to the employee and becomes effective upon date of hire.
- Voluntary personal accident insurance
Full-time employees may also purchase additional accident insurance to become effective one month following date of hire to cover the employee and his or her family. The employee pays the full cost of this voluntary benefit.
- Long-term care insurance

Long-term care benefits provide assistance with the normal activities of daily living which are not covered under health insurance benefits. Coverage is also available for the spouse as well as other family members including parents and grandparents.
