NFIB/Virginia State Director

Julia Ciarlo Hammond is Virginia state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, the Commonwealth's leading small-business advocacy association. NFIB's mission is to protect and promote the right of its small-business members to own, operate and grow their businesses. Ciarlo Hammond manages NFIB's state operations in Virginia to include its lobbying, member support, and statewide political and media functions.

Ciarlo Hammond joined NFIB in 2007 after three successful years as director of government relations for the Virginia Hospitality and Travel Association. Prior to that, she was special counsel director in the Office of Attorney General Jerry Kilgore. Ciarlo Hammond, who began her career in Richmond as chief legislative aide to Del. David Albo, also served as campaign manager for Sen. John Chichester in 2003.

Since 2007, Ciarlo Hammond has served as member of the Attorney General's Government and Regulatory Reform Task Force. She is also a member of the Government Affairs Committee with the Virginia Society of Association Executives and Virginia FREE, a business association that uses the political process to strengthen Virginia's business climate.

Ciarlo Hammond earned her bachelor's degree in political science with a concentration in political communications from the University of Mary Washington.
