¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to the New Mexico Legislature

Welcome to the new version of the New Mexico Legislature’s web site at www.nmlegis.gov. Please bookmark this page and edit publications as necessary. All of the information from the previous web site is still available and the navigation is fairly similar. We have added a variety of new features to the web site in an effort to make it more useful to you. You’ll find a new menu, updated search utilities and more ways to search for legislation. By the beginning of the 2009 session, we will replace Bill Watcher with My Roundhouse, which will allow you to track legislation using a variety of new tracking features. We will also introduce a version of the New Mexico Legislature web site that will be available for mobile browsers. We hope you enjoy the new version of the New Mexico Legislature web site and welcome your feedback!

The Capitol is located at the corner of
Old Santa Fe Trail and Paseo de Peralta in Santa Fe.

The New Mexico State Legislature convenes in regular sessions on the third Tuesday in January each year. The Legislature meets for 60 days in odd-numbered years and 30 days in even-numbered years.

The Legislature is composed of a 70-member House of Representatives and a 42-member Senate. The members are unpaid for their legislative work, but do receive a daily living allowance for each day of official legislative work. Legislators are elected from districts of approximately equal population. Several counties with small populations may be combined to form a single district.
