Area Action Councils - Iowa

Encouraging NFIB Members to Influence Legislation and Key Races to Advance the Pro-Small-Business Agenda

As a small-business owner you realize that the intrusion of government can be a significant interference with what you are trying to accomplish. In response to the greater need to educate lawmakers, state officials and voters, you are invited to join a local NFIB Area Action Council. Sharing first-hand your unique perspective as a business owner with key legislators will help assist in policy development and issue prioritization by sharing what issues most impact your ability to survive and prosper.

Every two years major elections are held, and through the AAC you will be given information and tools to take the clout you have within your business and maximize it within your community to ensure before voters step into the voting booth they are aware of the pro-small-business candidates.

As NFIB values your time, most AACs meet about three times a year, each meeting lasting around an hour. The programming is timed with the issues that are in the height of discussion, allowing you to have a direct input on public policy and important elections. You can benefit by developing personal relationships with legislators, achieving results to benefit your bottom line, networking with local small-business owners, raising your profile in the community and having access to the information to keep informed.

Currently, there are AACs in Cedar Rapids/Iowa City, Davenport, Des Moines, Sioux City and Waterloo/Cedar Falls.

Contact Andy Warren at 515-243-4723 for information on how to get involved with NFIB/Iowa.
