Workers' Compensation -- Texas Mutual Purchasing Groups
Save up to 10.9 percent on your workers' comp premium with the opportunity for a dividend.
NFIB/Texas members with good safety records may be eligible to participate in one of the NFIB Texas Mutual Purchasing Groups and earn a discount based on the group's total premium--in most cases, 10.9 percent of premium.
Plus, program participants are eligible to receive both general dividends and purchasing group dividends, if declared by Texas Mutual and approved by the Texas Department of Insurance. In addition, the program is non-assessable, so there is no risk of an additional assessment.
Right now, NFIB has three purchasing groups:
- Construction: This group includes a number of artisan contractors, building trades and other construction codes (it does not include general contractors). Download the complete list of eligible classes here (30 KB, PDF).
- Light manufacturing: This group includes a number of manufacturing codes. Download the complete list of eligible classes here (40 KB, PDF).
- Wholesale/retail: Most retail businesses that deal in a tangible product are eligible for coverage. The group also includes a number of wholesale classifications. Download the complete list of eligible classes here (33 KB, PDF).
Texas Mutual works with your insurance agent to place you in the purchasing group. Your agent should be able to tell you if you are in an eligible code. (Note: At least 75 percent of payroll must be in an eligible class code in order to qualify for group participation.)
To access this deal:
- If you are already covered by Texas Mutual Workers' Comp insurance: Have your agent fax Texas Mutual a request to transfer into the Texas Mutual Workers' Comp Purchasing Group. For additional information call Stephanie Vincent at the NFIB Austin office at 512-476-9847 ext. 200.
- If you do not already have Texas Mutual Workers' Comp insurance: Have your agent fax Texas Mutual an ACORD application. Your agent should list the NFIB Purchasing Group in the "Dividend Plan/Purchasing Group" box on the ACORD application and list your member number in the box for "Additional Company Information."
NFIB member benefits are offered by third parties through contractual arrangements with the NFIB Member Services Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of NFIB, or one of its affiliated insurance agencies.
