COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The National Federation of Independent Business/Ohio, the state's largest small business advocacy group, today presented its Guardian of Small Business award to state Sen. Tom Niehaus (New Richmond) in recognition of his outstanding efforts to support small business issues in the Ohio Legislature.

"Senator Niehaus has always been a strong voice for small business in the Ohio Legislature. He has been a leader in passing a number of important initiatives including helpful regulatory reforms," said Ty Pine, state legislative director of NFIB/Ohio.

During his time in the legislature, Niehaus has accomplished a 100 percent NFIB/Ohio Voting Record by:

    • Advocating for limited government and responsible spending policies;
    • Supporting on-going regulatory reform initiatives to aid Ohio's small businesses, and
    • Fighting to keep workers' compensation costs low.

The NFIB/Ohio Leadership Council unanimously chose to present Niehaus with the Guardian of Small Business Award, the organization's most prestigious award, in recognition of his strong pro-small business record.

"Senator Niehaus understands the role that Ohio's small businesses play in strengthening our economy and creating jobs," Pine said. "We are proud to recognize him with this award for his work to create an environment in Ohio where small businesses can grow and prosper."
