Lafayette Consultant Named to NFIB/Louisiana's Leadership Council
10/09/2008

Members advise state's leading small business group on key issues

BATON ROUGE, La.--The National Federation of Independent Business, Louisiana's leading small business association, has named Wayne Rabalais of Lafayette to its statewide Leadership Council. Rabalais started his small business, Rabalais Business Consulting, in 1979 and joined NFIB/Louisiana in 2001.

As a member of NFIB/Louisiana's 15-member Leadership Council, Rabalais will assist in the development of the association's statewide agenda and build strategies to support small business throughout the state. Leadership Council members are nominated by either NFIB's state director or current members and elected by the council.

“There was no question about whether we wanted Wayne to take on more of a leadership role in NFIB,” said Renee Baker, state director of NFIB/Louisiana, the state's leading small business association. “Since he joined NFIB, he has worked hard to help small business owners across the state.

“The small business owners who serve on our Leadership Council not only advise NFIB on key issues but also are strong advocates for small businesses, telling our story to state and federal lawmakers,” Baker said. “Being from the Acadiana area, Wayne will bring a different perspective to the Leadership Council. He has a lot of energy, and that's going to help us promote and protect the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses.”

NFIB is the nation's leading small business association, with offices in Washington, D.C., and all 50 state capitals. Founded in 1943 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization, NFIB gives small and independent business owners a voice in shaping the public policy issues that affect their business. NFIB's powerful network of grassroots activists send their views directly to state and federal lawmakers through our unique member-only ballot, thus playing a critical role in supporting America's free enterprise system. NFIB's mission is to promote and protect the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses.
