WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Federation of Independent Business, the nation's leading small business association, today announced its endorsement of U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman in the election for Virginia's 1st U.S. Congressional District.

"Representative Wittman was a strong supporter of small business while serving as a member of Virginia's House of Delegates," said Lisa Goeas, NFIB's vice president, political. "He continued that record after his election to the U.S. Congress last year, particularly on tax issues, and we look forward to working with him in the 111th Congress."

NFIB's political support is based on the candidates' positions and records on small business issues. Wittman's endorsement comes from NFIB SAFE (Save America's Free Enterprise) Trust, the organization's political action committee. The endorsement brings the considerable grassroots support of Virginia small business owners to the Wittman campaign.

Small business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB will encourage its members to help turn out the influential small business voting bloc on Election Day. According to NFIB polling data, small business owners and their employees make up 43 percent of registered voters in America.
