NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The National Federation of Independent Business, Tennessee's leading small business association, today announced its endorsement of incumbent Matthew Hill in House District 7. Rep. Hill (Jonesborough) consistently has backed the needs of his small business constituents, NFIB/Tennessee State Director Jim Brown said.

"Matthew Hill is a steadfast supporter of small business," Brown said. "His strong belief in free enterprise, including lower taxes and fewer regulations, resonates with NFIB's small business members. Matthew Hill shares the belief of NFIB members that government wasn't created to meddle in the operations of Tennessee entrepreneurs. NFIB will work hard to ensure Representative Hill is reelected."

"I truly appreciate the support of the National Federation of Independent Business," Hill said. "A vibrant small business community is absolutely essential to a strong economy in Tennessee and my district. I will do everything I can to help Tennessee's small businesses to grow and create jobs."

A radio broadcaster and NFIB member, Hill is a member of the House Children & Family Affairs and Transportation committees and the Domestic Relations and Public Safety & Rural Roads subcommittees.

House District 7 encompasses part of Washington County. The primary will be held Thursday, Aug. 7, with early voting between July 18 and Aug. 2. The general election will be held Nov. 4.

NFIB's endorsement is key for Hill. Small-business owners and their employees vote in high numbers and are known for actively recruiting friends, family members and acquaintances to go to the polls. NFIB has pledged it will activate its grassroots network on Rep. Hill's behalf. NFIB's political support is based on the candidate's position and record on small-business issues. Matthew Hill's endorsement comes from NFIB/Tennessee SAFE (Save America's Free Enterprise) Trust, the political action committee for NFIB/Tennessee's membership. The endorsement brings the considerable grassroots support of Tennessee's small business owners to Matthew Hill's campaign.
