ATLANTA -- The National Federation of Independent Business, Georgia's largest small business association, has endorsed Rep. Jeff Lewis (Evans) for House District 15 in the July 15 primary election.

"Representative Lewis is a true friend of small business," said David Raynor, state director of NFIB/Georgia. "He consistently votes in favor of Georgia's entrepreneurs and small, family-owned business on issues affecting the state's job creators, and he sponsored a bill to cap the sales tax on energy used in manufacturing.

"Representative Lewis believes that small business is the soul of Georgia's economy. He understands that small business employees nearly half of the state's non-farm workforce and creates most of the nation's net new jobs," Raynor said. "Representative Lewis has helped small business, and the National Federation of Independent Business is urging its members in Rep. Lewis's district to support him in his race for reelection."

Small business owners and their employees vote in large numbers and often recruit friends, family members and acquaintances to vote.

"I am honored to have NFIB's support," Rep. Lewis said. "Small business is critically important to the economic health of our state, and I will continue to support bills that encourage small businesses to grow and continue to create jobs."

Rep. Lewis chairs the House Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications Committee and is a member of the Appropriations, Rules and Ways and Means committees. Rep. Lewis is a graduate of Cass High School and Jacksonville State University. Rep. Lewis owns an advertising agency, and he and his wife, Kim, have three sons.

"Georgia needs legislators like Representative Lewis in the House who will support small business and encourage free enterprise," Raynor said.
