Harbin accepts grassroots support from Georgia's leading small business association

ATLANTA -- The National Federation of Independent Business, Georgia's largest small business association, has endorsed Rep. Ben Harbin (Evans) for House District 118 in the July 15 primary election.

"Representative Harbin understands the issues facing Georgia's small, family-owned businesses," said David Raynor, state director of NFIB/Georgia. "He has consistently voted in favor of small business on issues from supporting market-driven health insurance reforms to using tax credits to spur job growth in less developed parts of the state.

"Representative Harbin understands that small business is the heart and soul of Georgia's economy. Representative Harbin understands that small business employs nearly half of the state's non-farm workforce and creates most of the nation's new jobs," Raynor said. "Representative Harbin has done everything he can to help Georgia's small businesses, and the National Federation of Independent Business will do everything it can to help Rep. Harbin win reelection."

NFIB/Georgia's endorsement is important to Rep. Harbin. Small business owners and their employees vote in large numbers and often recruit friends, family members and acquaintances to vote as well. NFIB/Georgia promises to encourage its 12,000 members to vote for Rep. Harbin in both the primary and general elections.

"NFIB's endorsement means a lot to me," Rep. Harbin said. "Small business is the backbone of Georgia's economy, and I will continue to do everything I can to encourage small businesses to grow and create new jobs."

Rep. Harbin chairs the House Appropriations Committee and is a member of the Ways and Means, Insurance, Intragovernmental Coordination and Energy, Utilities and Telecommunications committees.

"Representative Harbin has used his position in the Legislature to fight for Georgia's small, family-run businesses," Raynor said. "Georgia can't afford to pass up this opportunity to elect a candidate who will support small business and embrace free enterprise."
