House Bill 285 would provide regulatory relief for Ohio's small businesses
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The National Federation of Independent Business/Ohio applauded today's passage of House Bill 285 in the Ohio Legislature and looked forward to seeing it signed into law as a means of improving Ohio's regulatory environment for small businesses. The legislation, sponsored by Rep. Ross McGregor (Springfield), provides for the waiver of administrative fines and civil penalties in the case of a first-time paperwork violation on the part of a small business.
"Instead of employing a 'gotcha' mentality when it comes to dealing with small businesses, this bill will usher in a new cooperative environment in which government agencies work with small businesses to bring them into compliance," said Kyle Jackson, assistant legislative director for NFIB/Ohio. "Representative McGregor's bill is a common-sense approach to developing a regulatory environment that encourages and fosters entrepreneurship as a means of improving our economy, growing businesses and creating jobs."
