Over the last few decades, security at home and at work has emerged as a primary concern in the minds of the general public. And since 1981, ProTech Security Inc. has been a leader in satisfying the security needs of an ever-changing market, offering customers the best protection possible.

"Our role is to provide a wide range of solutions and tailor them to each individual need. Anyone can sell alarms and cameras, but we provide peace of mind," said President and CEO Daniel McKimm.

As a leading security systems integrator, ProTech specializes in Internet protocol-based security and surveillance systems for businesses, schools, homes and any other facilities in need of electronic security. Applying a forward-thinking philosophy allows ProTech to stay ahead of the curve even as technologies become increasingly more advanced, assuring that their products and services are the best available, from fire detection, to burglar alarm systems, to 24-hour central station monitoring.

But with every business, the positives always come with a few negatives.

"Unlike our large competitors, small business does not have the ability to relocate in order to avoid corporate taxes. When considering all the other tools that large national competitors have, adding their ability to avoid taxes by moving is just another shot at small business," McKimm commented when asked about the challenges facing his business. But as a result of its large wealth of business resources and constant efforts on legislative matters, he said NFIB has been a great benefit to his small business.

A member for five years, ProTech values NFIB's commitment to small business concerns. Among the services that McKimm appreciates are the letters and e-mails regarding legislative issues facing small business. Keeping members informed on the happenings at both the state and national levels, and allowing individual members to get involved, helps business owners to experience the legislative process firsthand, which McKimm deems very rewarding.

"The flexibility of being small with the ability to react quickly to market and other conditions in our industry is one of the best parts of being a small business," McKimm said. "But most of all, it's great knowing that you, along with the many other small business owners, are a part of creating jobs."

Currently ProTech provides jobs for 25 employees.
